I asked my sons ( who are adults) for a blender for Christmas but haven't used it much. I came home today with some blackberries and a spinach/kale mix, and decided to try making a smoothie. I added a cup of unflavored yogurt and some homemade canned peaches from my brother and hit the right buttons.

It was drinkable/edible, filled me up, and got more than half of my vege/fruits and some protein into a large cup, but I learned a few things.

1) Never make a smoothie with blackberries. Too many seeds. I wound up having to strain it.

2) Use more fruit than greens or more yogurt than greens.

3) If you use greens, expect the stuff to be green or brown. With the blackberries, it was a brownish purple.

4) Add milk or juice. I ate most of it with a spoon until I added some milk to thin it.

Still, I'm going to get some ingredients and experiment a little. Blueberries or strawberries instead of blackberries, maybe some other fruit, and so forth.

Yeah, gotta watch that greens ratio *nodnod* I haven't made a smoothie for awhile - should get back into doing that. One yummy one was avocado with cocoa powder and sweetener - makes a very tasty chocolate pudding!
